Going Green in 2012

Sustainable and organic materials become the norm as consumers begin to become environmentally conscious. Going "green" is a trend that has been a long time coming and it is finally a trend that fashion can not avoid. Below are a few examples of this trend.
The above photo is a line of handbags made from recycled clothing by Hope Globe that were showcased at London's Fashion week.

The handbag line shown above is by Tamara Foggle and is actually made from old sails from old sail boats.

This is the tag that you will find in the handbags that are made from old sails.

As everything begins to get more and more organic and green, colors are going to turn from the bright and neon colors that we have been seeing lately and turn more relaxed and natural, really neutral pallets.

Current and Future Trends

Future trends we will be seeing in 2012 are the going green movement, cross body bags, accessorizing technology, futuristic colors, bold chic pieces, and laser cut textiles. These emerging trends are some current trends that will just continue to grow and also ones that we haven’t seen yet.

Current trends we are seeing in the accessories industry are a lot of bold statement pieces and within those statement pieces mixing the unordinary together. This can be seen with mixing jewelry, handbags, scarf’s, headbands and hats. The one that is the most popular for mixing bold pieces is jewelry and handbags. Adding a bold or funky jewelry or handbag can completely change the look of an outfit it can either make it more of a statement by adding these other bold pieces or it can just dress up a plain outfit. In this trend you mostly will see it being mixed in with a simpler outfit to spice up the look, not everyone is the fashionista who is going to mix opposites to create an amazing look. Another hot trend to be on right now in the accessories world is blinging or name branding up your technology gear, ipads, ipods, iphones, Nook, Kindle, etc… technology has taken over and designers jumped on the current trend in the technology industry by designing high end cases for them which have taken over. Designers you can find doing this are Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Burberry etc. The last major trend we are currently seeing is the going green trend, this is happening across the board not only with accessories, this covers everything in the making of the textiles and making sure they are actually being made with organic fibers.

Milan

In Milan, they have some crazy headwear trends in stores now that are a great insight to what is still to come. Taking these interesting styles and continuing to progress them towards more and more modern looks.

These hats are great examples of new and modern takes on vintage styles and older trends.

The designers played with colors for this spring so show brighter, louder, and more exciting colors.
Industrial-esque bracelets and chunky metals have a splash of color for wonderful spring designs.

These loud. gaudy necklaces are perfect pairing with fun summer dresses or going out at night.

This is a modern trend on a classic, timeless style.

Green Movement-How I Recycle

So I bought these shoes a while ago because they were on sale for $15 but they were SOOO uncomfortable!!! Old Navy and other cheaper lines are trying to construct shoes with the scrunched elastic but they do not do it right at all and I wish they would leave that to the higher end designers. So I have this pair of never worn shoes in the bag of clothes I’m about to put in the hall (people take it, it my version of goodwill without having to walk to an actual thrift store) and I started thinking about the green movement in fashion and I wanted to do something with the shoes! Could I really turn shoes into a headband??? Well I did! : )
