Showcasing New York Fashion Part 1

Fashion Week 2011
Elle did a fantastic coverage of this year's fashion week showcasing fall trends.

Highlights:
  • Hats have definitely come back into the spotlight and the look for them next fall is big, big, big! Large brims will protect you from that late fall sun and also give the wearer an air of mystery.
  • Fur will also be coming back in the form of both scarves as well as jewelry. We willlikelybe seeing patches of fur as details onfall coats.
  • Necklaces also appear to be going chunky for yet another year. Michael Kors and Max Azaria's new neckwear resembles large collars. While Badgley Mischka's necklace is more oversized costumer jewelry:gaudy and gorgeous!
  • Gloves are also growing in length. Forearm length gloves in brown suedes and leather with fur detailing is going to be a hot item next year.
  • A new way to spiceup a party dress is to add a mask like the Erickson Beamon piece.
  • Heads up! fur is back on shoes but not on boots. This time you will see it on strappy stilettos!

LIVE FROM: PREMIERE CLASSE, PARIS

WGSN showed the emerging trends coming from the trade shows in Paris. These are the autumn/winter 2011/2012 looks to be expected. Three statements that will be seen are knit, orange, and ornate cuffs. All the jewelry is very chunky and bold statement pieces and to complete the look with these statement pieces you will want to mix high contrast materials together. I really like the image of the ring shown by Mawi it’s really edgy and has the whole brass knuckles look which is an easy way to spice up a simple outfit. Inspired by the androgynous chic look. The show dates are March 3-6th followed by the trend analysis on the 8th and the full report on the 14th. To see more from this trade show go to the following link:
